Dynamo – Magician Impossible

Guess who is visiting India on 21st March 2014?  Steven Frayne aka Dynamo his stage name famous for his show “Dynamo – Magician impossible”.

Steven Frayne is a magician illusionist born in Bradford, England raised by his single mother Nicky Shoesmith. He learned magic tricks from his Grand Father Ken Walsh an amateur magician died in 2012.

Steven Frayne has suffered from incurable crohn disease discovered at the age of 15. Crohn’s disease, a dietary illness which affects the digestive system.  Dynamo undergone surgery to remove half of his stomach at the age 19. He said learning magic trick helped him through those tough times. Since he was small in size he was accustom with bullying in school. He said performing magic tricks kept the bullies at the bay. Even now he is just 5ft 6in and weighs only 8st, beyond all the odds he turned into a renowned Magician dynamo.

Two years before when I saw his show Dynamo-Magician impossible. I was completely awestruck by his performance.  After David Blaine, dynamo is the one completely captivated the whole world by his magic tricks. David Blaine is an American magician, illusionist and a street magic performer. Dynamo is also following the footsteps of David Blaine by performing magic in streets and performing before celebrities. When one watch the Dynamo performance the question always arise HOW DID HE DO THAT?

True to his stage name Dynamo his performance are mind blowing. His few tricks need to be mentioned here.
Levitation – Dynamo Levitate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. When I watched that show first time it’s like euphoria. Dynamo Levitate from the roof of the London Bus.
Walking in River Thames - How did he do that?  I wished for walking in water (Of course, Fantasy) at the time when I watched the Bruce Almighty film where the actor Morgan Freeman walks in the River. He plays the role of God.
Matrix – The matrix performance, seriously he is defying the Law of Gravitation.
Frozen – Dynamo freezes fountain in ibizia, Spain. It’s like watching movie. When I saw the Fozen 3D animated movie where the protagonist Princess Elsa have the magic to create ice and snow, I though it’s cool. Dynamo actually froze the water in the fountain unbelievable.
Vanish – When the fans are following Dynamo for taking pictures he suddenly vanished. He was nowhere else to see quite shocking.

Some of his performance like putting the phone inside the bottle, turning the paper cut butterfly into live butterfly, Vertigo performance in the Los Angeles Times Building and Phone Trick in Los Angeles Time Square building which is awesome.

After all this stardom he is down to earth guy and attached to his family which to be appreciated. His visit to Mumbai in India hopefully telecast in the “Dynamo – Magician impossible” 4th series. We wish him a good luck and good health.

Gulaab Gang Film – Controversy

It’s unbelievable the makers of Gulaab Gang film continuously denying that Gulaab Gang film is not similar to Gulabi Gang organization and refuse to give them credit.  When it’s obvious there is a complete resemblance of pink saris, bamboo stick and even the name.Yes, changing the vowels in the film title can’t justify that there is no resemblance in name.

The director of the Bollywood movie, Soumik Sen, insisted that “Gulaab Gang” had nothing to do with the Gulabi Gang, either the real women’s group or the documentary.

“I draw my inspiration from another Bollywood flick, ‘Mirch Masala,’ ” he told India Ink. “My movie is about a rural woman, Rajjo, trying to fight her way into setting up a school in her village. It is about education and how women in rural India have to fight for it.”

Gulab Gang producer Anubhav Sinha denies that the story of Gulab Gang doesn’t represent the Original Gulabi Gang. While movie exhibits by wearing pink sarees which completely resemble to Gulab Gang. Anubhav Sinha also said the movie is totally imaginary. He also said “It’s a woman’s fight for women’s rights that ends up fighting another woman. The film is not inspired by Sampat Pal at all. The story is set in Madhya Pradesh. Soumik Sen, (director) came to me with the script and I liked it so went for it.”

I don’t know whether the makers of Gulaab Gang are ignorant or made a planned controversial strategy to promote the film.  I like to ignore the ignorant part. In bollywood any controversy is publicity. Ms. Sampat Pal's lawyer statement weights the controversial strategy.

However, Sampat’s lawyer told the press that they had sent the notice to the makers in June last year, followed by several more notices. But "they chose to reply only on February 4, saying that the film bears no resemblance to Sampat Pal Devi’s life".

Its undeniable fact the story is not completely based on Gulabi Gang organization and the activist. But the core competence in the film story is the Pink saree, bamboo stick, women leader from a village fighting for rural women rights which is a copy cat of Gulabi Gang.

The ironic fact is that the Gulaab gang makers absolutely getting away with the controversy by simply promising a disclaimer saying "the movie has nothing to do with Ms.Sampat Pal or her work" with accolades of publicity. I am not making any comments about the verdict or about Ms. Samapat Pal. We all abide the law and the jurisdiction. I wish Gulabi Gang organization receives the deserved credit and monetary benefits which obviously useful for the empowerment of rural women.
